UPDATED JUNE 2021
I get asked all the time where to eat, shop and play in Orange County when people come to town, so I thought it was about time that I do some posts about the place I love so much. Now that I am splitting time between SLC and OC, when I’m gone I REALLY miss the things I used to take for granted that were right down the street whenever I wanted them. I mentioned a few of my favorite brunch spots in this post, and now I thought it would be fun to do a post on what I consider to be the best home decor boutiques in Orange County. These are the places I frequent for both inspiration and beautiful home goods. Some of these home decor boutiques are a bit off the beaten path, but well worth a visit.
Juxtaposition Home – Once in a cute shopping center along PCH, they have recently moved their operations but I still love it just as much. It’s pricey, but boy is it gorgeous! The pieces you see on Instagram in beautiful homes by talented designers can be found here. A mix of antiques and stunning unique items curated by the shops owners will have you browsing and dreaming. Such great inspiration and beautiful goods.
They can be found:
3195 Red Hill Ave.
Costa Mesa, CA 92626
Check for hours before you go, as they tend to vary.
RJ Imports – I remember the first time I visited RJ I was not quite sure that Google Maps directed me to the right place. In a small industrial park across the train tracks in San Juan Capistrano, you aren’t sure at first if it’s a working warehouse or a super cool furniture store open to the public. Well, lucky you it is the latter. A giant space full of some of the prettiest rustic goods from around the globe. You will find uber cool furniture pieces here and lots of fun home accents at reasonable prices. A bonus, the staff is totally nice too! This has become one of my favorite places to style and shoot some of my magazine features. This Halloween shoot I styled that was featured in Better Homes and Gardens was done there, as was a Wreath Workshop that is coming out in Better Homes and Gardens this fall.
The Garage Collective – I always pop into this cute shop when I drive down PCH. It’s in the cutest little house. A bunch of pretty home decor accents, rugs and vintage finds along with capsule collections by local artists.

Tuvalu Home – One of my very first favorite shops when we moved to OC many years ago. This Laguna Beach staple recently opened a second shop just down PCH in San Clemente too. I like to visit both. The cool coastal vibe is what I crave and I’d actually just like to move in to the store. 😉 Great home decor and gift items.
Hjom – This cute little newcomer to Balboa Island is always a fun stop when you’re in the area. Unique hand-selected products made with rich textures, soft fabrics and thoughtful design. It’s tucked back a little way off the main street, so be on the lookout for it!

The images of Amber Interiors’ instagram are brought to life in this pretty shop in Lido Marina Village. Great textiles, pretty home accents and one of a kind vintage pieces are fun to browse through.
3404 Via Oporto, Suite 101, Newport Beach, California 92663
Monday – Sunday 10am – 6pm
Huit Laguna – While technically a design studio, this is a teeny little spot in Laguna Beach has carved out a small shop as a side hustle for the designers and is full of some super cute finds. While you wander around Laguna, be sure to pop in and say hi!

Blackband Design – This one is a fun little spot I found a few years ago that I’m not sure many people know about. Tucked back in an industrial park in Irvine by the airport is Blackband Design. If you follow them on Instagram, you know they do amazing design work. Well, along with their studio space, they also have a shop of sorts on the premises. I think it’s a lot of stuff that they pull for clients, all in a big space in their warehouse where you can go shop too. Often times when I go, I am the only person in the building. Just walk in to the reception desk and tell them you’d like to shop. They’ll take you back and turn on the lights for you so you can wander around and find some cute stuff. I think it’s a hidden gem.
Whether you live in Orange County, or are just visiting, these are great places to visit whenever you get a chance! I’d love to hear if you have any favorites I should know about!
