Baby it’s cold outside! As I write this I am sitting in front of the fireplace, staring at about 3 feet of snow outside my window. While I wish that spring was on it’s way, reality is that I am going to be cold for awhile still…so why not embrace it and celebrate with some awesome winter party ideas? I have teamed up with 16 other fun bloggers all brought together by my super colorful and talented friend Ariel over at PMQforTwo to share fun ski party themes for all your winter parties. If you are joining me from Gretchen’s fun blog Boxy Colonial, welcome! Her woodland winter table is so fun!
WINTER PARTY IDEAS DECOR
If there is one really good reason for hosting a winter themed party, it’s that is gives you an excuse to keep your Christmas decor out a little bit longer. Reuse it and get some more mileage out of it! 😉 We can’t get through the winter without a heavy dose of hot chocolate around our house, and when I stopped in at Target last week I couldn’t pass up all the cute black and white hot chocolate themed supplies in the $1 (or in my case the $50) section. lol!
Black and white is always a good idea, you can mix it in with any of your Christmas colors to create your party. It works with everything. I wanted to bring in a bit of a woodsy feel, so I used some of my tabletop Christmas trees, minus the ornaments, and my snowflake decor, with the black and white items.
I love this cute little hot cocoa sign that is rose gold glitter. It adds just the right amount of sparkle to the decor.
Pile some cozy blankets and pillows in your ski party theme colors around so guests can cozy up and get warm after a day out in the cold.
SKI PARTY THEMES FOOD IDEAS
Whether you are feeding hungry skiers after a long day on the slopes, or friends who are just over to party or watch a show, quick, easy and hearty food is always a hit. Fondue is a classic Apres ski food. Who doesn’t love warm melted cheese on a variety of finger foods like apple slices, chunks of bakery fresh bread, and pretzels? Many stores carry pre-made fondue packages these days, which means you don’t even have to make it from scratch. If you really want to dial the ski party food up a notch, serve both cheese and chocolate fondue. Serve berries, chunks of poundcake, nuts, marshmallows and cookies to dunk in the chocolate fondue. Fondue is fun party food because you can prepare it ahead of time, it is easy to keep it warm and guests can serve themselves, which means you can enjoy the party too.
Offer warm beverages for your guests as well. I created a simple hot cocoa bar with to-go cups, along with regular mugs, so guests can take a warm cup of hot chocolate with them when they leave. Place “toppings” for your guests to choose from to customize their hot cocoa. Chocolate chips, candy canes, marshmallows, caramel syrup, pumpkin spice and whipped cream, are all fun flavorings for guests to mix into their mugs.
I hope you are feeling inspired to create your own winter party with the fun ski party themes being shared in this blog hop. It doesn’t have to be expensive or difficult.
