Week in Review

Another busy week is in the books! This one was full friends, family and food! I can hardly believe that Andy is done with his first year of college! This year has FLOWN by! Graduation week is always a fun week to be around the University. So many families in town to visit and graduates walking all over town in their caps and gowns taking pictures. It’s definitely a celebratory time. I love that graduation always coincides with spring blooming all over town too. It’s so pretty to see all the flowers and trees in bloom.

We headed down to Provo to stay for a few days and visit with friends that were in town to move their kids out of the dorms. Being in Provo these days feels like being at home. There are so many kids at school that are friends of ours from CA, it’s like a revolving door of fun people coming visit and I love it! It was sleeting and snowing the first part of the week, but by Thursday it was sunny and headed to 80. Such a change!

Ash made the CUTEST cake for a birthday party this week. She loves the opportunity to experiment with different techniques and colors and this one just  looks so fun!!

John and I had a date night at one of our favorite spots in Provo…Seven Brothers Burgers. They have a place on the North Shore in Hawaii too…so if you’ve visited you might have been there before. The burgers are fantastic, their fries are like home fries…real potatoes sliced and fried and seasoned…so yummy! And they have other Hawaiian themed salads and coconut shrimp. So good!

Andy and Ash had to have one last hurrah with Andy’s roommates from this past year. They have been SUCH a fun group and she  has loved hanging out with them as much as Andy has. Such fun kids. It’s sad to see the year end!

Uncle Dave came to town on Friday and that means it’s time to get moving on the Alumni House. SO exciting!! You know things are getting serious when we start taking sharpies to the walls and windows and cutting things open! 😉

Working on these projects with my uncle has been so fun over the last few years. It’s a great time to do something together that we both love and it’s fun to get the time together with family. We were fortunate to get some good news with a few of the weird quirks that we were worried about. It looks like 100 years of DIY projects by previous owners won’t be quite as crazy to un-do as we thought. Thank goodness!!

While Dave and I were tearing things apart at the house, John and the kids ran some errands and made the obligatory weekend trip to Costco. 😉 John in his RedBull Racing shirt decided it was time for an impromptu photo shoot with the cases of redbull. HA! He’s such a goofball. I love that he does ridiculous things and makes us all laugh.

Sunday it was HOT…like 87 degrees! Whoa! WAY above what’s normal…so of course flooding concerns have been really worrisome this last few days. We decided to take advantage of the gorgeous weather and go see the cherry blossoms at the capital building before we dropped Dave at the airport. They are only in bloom for a few short weeks and they are gorgeous…but boy was it crowded!!

I tried to get pictures without other people in them…which was next to impossible…it felt like Disneyland! It also felt like snow with all the blossoms raining down in the wind.

Ash went a little earlier than us with some fun friends. They ran into a professional photographer who was waiting for his clients and offered to take some pictures from the girls. So nice!

I’m looking forward to getting a lot of work done around the house this week, finalizing some Alumni House construction details, getting Andy off on his study abroad, and then a concert this weekend. Can’t wait!

Have a great week!
