Ash and I decided to do something a little wild…Andy is currently studying abroad in London…so we decided it wasn’t fair for hime to have all the fun. We decided to skip the studying part and just do the abroad. 😉 We hopped a flight early last week and here we are! It has been a dream of mine for the last many years to visit London…particularly Chelsea at this time of year during the Royal Chelsea Flower Show, or even more specifically Chelsea in Bloom and I am SO excited to get to see it in person! Here’s a little of what we’ve been up to this past week…
So long Salt Lake City! We arrived mid-day on Wednesday and settled into our neighborhood for the next few weeks. Chelsea is such a darling place. I love this little pedestrian street Pavilion Rd.
Sloane Square is in the heart of the neighborhood and it is all decked out for summer.
We hit the ground running on our first full day and went to see Frozen the musical and meet up with a dear friend.
The show was SO cute! We grabbed dinner at one of our favorite places after, Balthazar.
We love to visit this place in NYC, so it was nice to find it here too!
Ash and I are determined to stick with our exercise and eating healthy(-ish) while we’re here, so Friday a long walk through Hyde Park was on the agenda.
I’ve found that walking is the best way to beat jet lag, so as hard as it may be to get out in the morning, it really does help!
Saturday we spent wandering through Chelsea and the surrounding neighborhoods checking out farmer’s markets and fun local events.
Everything was extra festive because of the Coronation just a few days before.
We popped into a street fair of sorts in Duke of York Square in Chelsea and were cracking up. It was definitely the fanciest fair we’re ever seen! Booths full of oysters and champagne, macarons and lobster…it was quite the scene. We definitely felt a little out of place in our sweats. 😉
Apparently they do this every Saturday during the spring and summer. Kind of amazing.
My birthday was this weekend as well, so my sweet girl and hubby arranged to have some flowers sent to the hotel. They were stunning!
Ash I woke up early to go to church with Shannon. It was a struggle…we were SO tired with the time change and having only been in town for a few days…but we made it..early…and even walked to mile or so to get there! Go us! 😉
After church it was time to explore some more! We hit Little Venice and walked along the canals…
The houseboats are so cute!
We met up with Andy after our little walk for some yummy brunch at a place called Johnny Green. It was SO yummy! Brunch is my absolute favorite meal.
After lunch we continued our walk…we did 9 miles on Sunday. Crazy! Regents park was a highlight with the Rose gardens.
I can’t even imagine what this place would look like in peak bloom!
Primrose is always a delight.
After our long 9 miles we headed back to Shannon’s house where we had one of my favorite pizzas ever and some delicious chocolate cake from a favorite local bakery.
It was a wonderful day with friends and family.
I’m looking forward to another year…just not the wrinkles that come with it. 😉
There are so many fun things left to discover and do! I can’t wait for next week! 🙂
Have a great week!
