School is out for summer and that means pool days and beach trips and easy, breezy decor! If you are visiting from Jo-Anna’s beautiful tour, welcome! These home tours that Marty puts together are always such a fun way to get a peek at everyone’s seasonal design ideas and I love it! As many of you know we have been in the throes of a whole home remodel in Orange County throughout the past wild year and a half, and I don’t know about you guys, but I have been having the hardest time getting products delivered with any kind of regularity, so this was a good excuse for me to simplify and switch up just a few, seasonal accents and easy updates to bring the colors and feelings of summertime into our home.

Our master bedroom is a work in progress, but I am excited about these pretty little updates. As the weather heats up it’s the perfect time to switch out heavy fabrics for cozy layers of light fabrics that add texture but not too much weight and warmth.
Thin throw blankets and quilts layered with crisp cool white sheets and a linen duvet are the perfect combination for a cozy, yet summer appropriate bed. I love this duvet cover with just a little bit of a fringe on the edge for a boho, summery feel.
Blue and white are always the most popular hues of the summer season, so I added them to the bed with a few pretty neutral throw pillows that you know I love to switch out with every season. It’s truly the easiest way to change the entire look of a room!
The dark rug from fall is still hanging around because it’s lighter replacement hasn’t been delivered yet. 😉 I do love this rug, but changing it out with something brighter and lighter will make SUCH a difference in this space! 🙂 I can’t wait for it to get here. I’m sure John is happy to wait however, as switching it out means disassembling the entire bed. lol!
I also lightened up the nightstands with these amazing lamps from Amazon. They are super big, have great texture and the price can’t be beat! They are constantly bouncing between being in and out of stock, I’m sure due to similar issues everyone else is experiencing, so if you want some, be sure to grab them when you see them!
This house really lends itself to a summer vibe, and frankly always feels a little bit like summer simply because of it’s proximity to the beach. I have included a lot of coastal decor in the regular every-day decor, so it always feels a bit summery in here. 😉 What I will often do to change things up for different seasons is move things around the house into new places to give it a fresh face-lift. This original painting of Laguna Beach that I found on Etsy is one of my favorite things in the house. I like to incorporate local artists and decor items that reflect the local area when I decorate. I like the sense of place it gives to a space. Hence the map of LA too. 🙂
This faux palm tree has been one of my favorite additions to this room to liven it up and fill in an odd corner. It is so reasonably priced and looks very life-like. I love it! The cane desk is a favorite piece and I love that inexpensive rattan chair I found!
