The holidays are such a fun time, I like to spread as much of that cheer around the house as possible. A little bit in every room goes a long way. It is easy to give your bedroom or guest room a quick holiday bedding makeover by just adding a few touches. You can see in our master bedroom before and after that just changing a few things around, makes a big difference.
After… (and yes, the walls here have been painted a greige since the above picture was taken. ;))
Does it look like a totally different room or what? Here’s what I changed:
I added in these great pillows from HomeGoods. The plaid lumbar, and two cable knit sweater covered red pillows.
On the nightstands I rounded up a few red/Christmas-y accents I had around the house…a metal star and a red book to continue that red…
When dealing with an accent, just like when I accessorize, I like to work in threes. Have it pop up in three spots…so I added a red Pottery Barn quilt that we had lying around to the foot of the bed.
For fun I mixed in a plaid tray from Target. This will sit on the dresser when it’s not being used on the bed. Live greenery arrangements really brighten up a space in the same way gorgeous flowers do in the springtime. These need not be complicated or expensive. Trim a few branches from your yard and add them to a clear jar or vase of water. They will last a LONG time and look beautiful. I like to mix waxy leaves with berries and a different, less waxy green. No flower arranging skills are needed to create these arrangements all over the house.
Candles are a always a nice addition to the bedroom. Choose a wintry scent to really set the mood…spices like nutmeg and cinnamon are great.
Here are a few of my favorite products with a hint of red to help you add a little holiday to your room…
I hope you are feeling inspired to raid your cupboards and find a few simple things to spread the Christmas cheer and add some holiday bedding into your own bedroom.
