Meaningful Spaces Christmas Decor Home Tour

I am so excited to be a part of this year’s Meaningful Holiday Home Tour.  Laura from Meaningful Spaces is kind enough to put this together every year.  I was lucky enough to live just minutes from her in OC, one of the reasons I can’t wait to return home to So Cal before too long! 😉 . She is just such a kind hearted person and that really shines through in her beautiful and welcoming home and every one of her blog posts.  Be sure to run over and check out her gorgeous home!  This is such a busy time of year, thank you for spending some of your precious time visiting the blog!  If you are joining me from Lindsay Hill Interiors, hello!  Isn’t Kathleen such a talented designer?  There are 11 homes in all over the next few days, so don’t miss out on any of them! 🙂 Today I am sharing our Christmas kitchen and entry way. Yes, the appliances are still sporting blue covers…we have 2 more small things left to finish in the kitchen and I just can’t bear the thought of one of them getting scratched by a contractor…so next year they will be stainless steel…this year they are blue to match the island. 😉

If you have been following along with our big move and #1987FixerUpper renovation, then you know seeing this house not only looking put together, but also decorated is a huge deal for our family!  Last night we were snuggled up on the couch watching a Christmas devotional by the fire and Andy leaned over and whispered, “Mom, this house feels cozy now.”  I almost cried.  That is what I have been working toward for months…a place to feel happy and comfortable in unfamiliar surroundings.  My sweet boy helped me realize that we have reached that point.  I am thankful for the holidays that make everything feel special and cozy.  Welcome to our Christmas decor home tour…

I love to add fresh greenery and having this bright entry way with a new staircase to decorate this year..it was just screaming for a fresh garland.  You can read my tips for hanging a fresh garland here.

Eventually we will be getting some furniture for this entry way, but for now I borrowed a mirrored side table from our old living room and it fits perfectly for the time being.  I picked up TONS of poinsettias from Walmart this weekend for $4 a piece.  It’s funny, I’m not usually a huge poinsettia fan, but I am LOVING the pop of color this year!  Maybe because we have such a neutral space now. 🙂 I have a bunch of galvanized buckets similar to these that I put them in to dress them up a bit.

I love to use wrapped boxes in all of my decor all over the house to add height to things.  They are inexpensive and festive…and you can make them work with any decor which is great!

I picked up these old #10 cans with cool labels years ago in Charleston South Carolina (yes, I bring weird things like this home from vacation!) 😉 I love using them for things like this.  They are funky, great conversation pieces and add some interest to a vignette.  Plus, they remind me of fun times on vacation.  I always try and go antiquing on vacation to pick up unique souvenirs.

From the kitchen you can see into the entryway.  I love this little peek of the decorations in the corner.  Everywhere I look I see something pretty and that makes me happy! 🙂

When you first walk into the kitchen you are greeted by the island and the backs of …so I wanted to make sure and make them look festive too.  These little live wreaths from Trader Joe’s were just the perfect addition.  I tied them on with some fun ribbon I picked up at HomeGoods and made some EASY bows for them.  I have to say, as much as I love fresh greenery, these little wreaths dry out quickly making them not super practical for a chair that gets used and pulled out 10 times a day.  They are shedding needles like CRAZY!  Next year we will be getting fake wreaths for the barstools! 😉

I debated between a black or charcoal gray island (I always gravitate toward black…you should see my closet!) and navy, and I finally opted for navy and I love it.  I really use navy as a neutral and I love that I can decorate with every color of the rainbow and it works with this pretty blue.  The color is Salty Dog by Sherwin Williams.

A rustic tray from HomeGoods balances out all the white and stainless and gold in the kitchen.  Brings in a more rustic vibe.  More poinsettias and some Christmas plates and treats make for great holiday island decor.

I need to break out my collection of cutting boards, but for now, this one will do with a pretty little tree that I just tied a ribbon around and some of my new favorite bowls.  of all time, and ! 🙂

A little peek of the family room from the kitchen.  You can see more of that here in this part of the tour.

A rosemary tree by the sink, again in a galvanized bucket, smells wonderful and looks pretty long past Christmas…and if you find yourself in a pinch for some in a recipe, you always have it on hand! 😉
